Suggestions for International Students

  • Attend the Working in the U.S.A. workshop (a joint effort from the International Education and Exchange (IEE), the Center for Internships and Service Learning, and the Career Center). The working in the U.S.A. workshop is offered every semester.
  • Topics include internships/CPT (Curricular Practical Training) and OPT (Occupational Practical Training), résumé writing, and interviewing skills.
  • Attain U.S. work experience through on-campus jobs. View job listings on the Titan Connection jobs database.
  • Complete your Titan Connection profile with "F-1 Student Visa" or "Other Visa" selected for work authorization status to receive special event and job announcements.
  • Practice communication and leadership skills through active participation in student clubs, Toastmasters, public speaking opportunities (including in-class presentations), and InterviewStream (our web-based interview practice program available online at www.fullerton.edu/career).
  • Network and meet professionals who work in your areas of interest through professional organizations outside of campus.
  • Plan ahead! Consult the IEE staff on the length of time required to process CPT and OPT applications. Start your career planning and preparation early.
  • Take charge of your career, and use all resources available to you.
