Dear Cal State Fullerton Employer:
Thank you for considering students in the
College of Health & Human Development for
your future employment needs. We are very proud of the graduates from our
programs and believe that they are well-prepared for career paths in areas that
address some of societies most important concerns - health promotion, health
care, and the physical, emotional, and social development and well-being of
people of all ages-infancy through older adult years. Specifically, we are
proud to produce some of the most qualified professionals in Southern
California to address issues such as violence and abuse and issues related to
improving the health and quality of life for children, adults, and the elderly.
Our students, who are among the best and brightest in the University, have many
outstanding qualities that we believe should make them especially attractive to
future employers. Like so many students at CSUF, they reflect the cultural
diversity of the area. Other special characteristics of our graduates include:
-
Service Orientation
- Our students, who have chosen careers in the 'helping' professions, are
intrinsically motivated to assist others to solve personal and social problems;
-
Interpersonal/Teamwork
- Through various course experiences, students develop skills in facilitating
mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members;
-
Practical Experience
- Students graduate from our programs with 'hands-on' field experience,
acquired through various internships and practicum opportunities;
-
Cultural Diversity
Competence - Our students have experience in communicating and working
effectively and harmoniously with people from diverse backgrounds;
-
Leadership Training
- Through participation in various clubs, organizations, and councils, students
learn to manage resources and apply decision making strategies;
-
Record of achievement - Each year our students receive numerous awards
and recognitions for their outstanding accomplishments. Recent examples include
the Giles T. Brown Outstanding Thesis award, serving as President of the CSUF
Associated Students organization, and receiving the University's Outstanding
Graduate Award.
It is our commitment to our students and the commitment the students have to
their education that makes the CSUF NSM graduates extremely well-suited for
today's job market.
We also are proud that many of our former graduates are now leaders in the
community, pursuing careers in areas related to child and adolescent services,
counseling, community health, gerontology, human services, nursing, fitness and
health promotion, teaching, and athletics. We invite you to visit our campus to
meet our student leaders and our gifted faculty and staff. Again, we are proud
of the contributions they have made as we strive to better serve individuals,
families, and communities in our region.
Sincerely,
Roberta Rikli, Dean
